Feeling Good with evidence-based psychotherapy in a warm and supportive environment
TEAM-CBT Treatment Approach
At Feeling Good Psychotherapy we are trained cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist certified in the highly effective CBT-based-T.E.A.M. therapy developed by Stanford University professor David Burns, MD, (best selling author and renowned expert in the mental health field). CBT is a scientifically-researched approach focused on changing negative thoughts leading to painful emotions. CBT-TEAM therapy improves on CBT by adding motivational tools to increase the individual's commitment to change and results in rapid and lasting change. Often patients experience significant improvements in just a few months. The focus in therapy is on the "here and now". Sessions tend to be highly structured and goal oriented. Regular session last about 50 minutes, initial intake session last 75 minutes. I also offer accelerated therapy modules by doing "intensives" sessions lasting 1.5 to 2 hours per day which can be a cost and time effective way to achieve more rapidly the desired outcomes. Therapy sessions are somewhat active and can be fun as well. During sessions you will receive empathy and support and you will also be able to use tools that will help you to identify and defeat negative thoughts, self defeating beliefs, and hurtful behavior patterns. You will have opportunities to measure your symptoms and monitor your progress using brief, accurate scales at the beginning and end of every session. You will also have a chance to rate your therapist’s warmth, understanding, and helpfulness at the end of every session. Homework assignments will be given at the end of each session to enable rapid and lasting changes. Although CBT-TEAM therapy was originally developed to treat adults it has now been adapted to be used successfully with patients of all ages. I also combine other age-appropriate therapeutic techniques with CBT when working with children and adolescents. Please click on the following links to learn more about: |
